How to Get into Universities with a Low GPA

You may have a low GPA, but that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to get into university abroad. Follow these guidelines when applying to universities that will help you  study in the US  :

  • Explain the reason for your low grades.  You can mention this either in your personal statement, SOP or during the interview. You can also write a separate letter about this.
  • A strong  personal statement/statement of purpose  will prove very helpful.
  • Highlight the subjects or areas of study in which you excel  . Although your overall score may be low, you can highlight the subjects in which you performed well.
  • Doing well  on exams like  the GRE or GMAT  will improve your application.
  • Focus on other parts of your application.  Include relevant professional experience, internships, project experience, and personal skills and knowledge.
  • Sign up for courses.  Take additional short certification courses online or  in exam labs  that will show the admissions committee the skills you’ve developed and improve your profile.

  • Completely completed application form
  • personal statement – an explanation of your motivation for choosing the program and university, your low grades, any relevant skills and experience you have (through study or work), as well as your future career aspirations and how this program will help you achieve that goal .
  • Academic transcripts
  • Copy of bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Copy of English test results
  • Copy of GMAT  / GRE / LSAT /  MCAT test results 
  • Self-certified mark sheets and X and XII certificates
  • 2 links if necessary
  • Copy of passport
  • Resume
