Level of study
Students eligible for the University of Waikato’s International Asia Excellence Scholarship are candidates enrolled in undergraduate, postgraduate and postgraduate (research) courses. Students may study or research any subject or field of study of their choice to be eligible for the University of Waikato International Scholarship for Excellence for Asia.
Selection criteria
To be eligible for the University of Waikato International Asia Excellence Scholarship, the candidate must:
- Be a member of one of the countries in the region: North America, Latin America, Europe, East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Middle East, Africa or actually study there.
- Currently studying at the University of Waikato (including a Certificate of Achievement in English Undergraduate Studies, a Certificate of Achievement in Basic Studies, a Diploma in International Business or Science or any other undergraduate programme);
- Considering that the student had not paid any fees at the time of application;
- Register for the first time for a Bachelor’s or Master of Philosophy degree at the University of Waikato (excluding Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Philosophy (MPhil));
- Not considered a student at home;
- You have met the University of Waikato English entry criteria or received an invitation to study for the Academic English Certificate at the University of Waikato before commencing your studies at UOW;
- The University of Waikato received a conditional or unconditional offer of a place;
- Commencement of a full-time research program for an aggregate period of at least 12 months at the University of Waikato in the year of tenure;
- Reside in New Zealand for the duration of the fellowship and be eligible to undertake online research for only 50% of their course (subject to availability);
- Do not apply to the University of Waikato through a funding body;
- Do not apply for a University of Waikato Fixed Loan Agreement, Study Abroad or Student Exchange.
